MRI Job Description
- Under the supervision of the Radiology Director and the Radiology Manager, the MRI Technologist is responsible for the provision of Imaging Services to include the specialty areas of MRI, routine diagnostic, portable x-rays, and fluoroscopy
- Oversees and facilitates all processes associated with MRI patient flow
- Responsible for maintaining on-going Quality Control (QC) processes for the MRI department
- Acts as preceptor to train new staff and provides technical expertise to staff
- Ensures patient safety by providing adequate magnetic and radiation protection following standards of care of the Institute for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Education, and Research (IMRSER)
- Must be proficient in all areas of MR and IV starts (willing to train)

MRI Job Description
- Run daily reports to track unsigned studies, daily charges and study turnaround times
- Log reports with EPIC team to improve workflow
- Perform at a comprehensive and competent level

MRI Job Description
- Prepares patients for biopsy procedures including checking for allergies, obtaining vitals, explaining the paperwork and the procedure
- Assists technologist and radiologist during procedures including breast biopsy procedures, transports specimens to pathology, and maintains adequate inventory by ordering and stocking supplies as needed
- Uses quality patient care to comfort the patient during biopsy procedures
- Monitors workflow in procedure rooms, communicates delays to patients, families and physicians
- Assists technologists with difficult patients, helps transport patients, and comforts/assists patients when needed
- Acts as a chaperone in the MRI department for female patients as needed
- Is aware of work/ MRI safety requirements and reports areas of concern immediately to proper area for resolution
- Coordinate and provide nursing care for patients undergoing procedures in the Medical Imaging Department
- Operate physiological monitoring equipment and data analysis system
- IV and port access/deaccess, monitor patients during transports, administer procedural sedation, and accurately document in electronic medical record
- Certificate or Associate’s Degree in Radiology
- Years office experience is preferred
- Familiarity with and ability to use specialized ancillary equipment
- The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by successful completion of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology and MRI program
- AA/BA/BS degree through an accredited Radiology program required or have satisfactorily completed a formal military or hospital-based radiology technologist training program
- Current certification with the Texas Department of Health (CMRT)
