- Provide triage assessment, nursing diagnosis and evaluating all aspects of nursing care
- Develops, individualizes and prioritizes patient’s plan of care daily in collaboration with patient, family and health team members that is sensitive to the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs to attain expected outcomes
- Coordinates patient care
- Identifies physical symptoms/changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner

- Experience with airway emergencies
- Certified Perianesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Peranesthesia Nurse (CAPA) preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care, telemetry, or emergency room
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a clinical nurse in the medical/surgical or critical care inpatient setting
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in post anesthesia/sedation
- Minimum 1-2 years previous RN experience in ER, ICU or high level step down unit required
- 1 plus years of telemetry experience as a practicing Registered Nurse if assigned to POH, Endoscopy, Phase II Recovery or PACU
- Must be able to work a 12 hour shift (as assigned)
- National Certification in the area of Nurse Specialty specific to employment and relative to the patient care for Perioperative Services
- 1 plus years of knowledge and experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Acute care or PACU experience preferred
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) preferred
PACU RN Job Description
- Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma
- Bachelors in Nursing Required at Medical Center
- BLS with skills demonstration
- Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire
- Sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling – 30% - 50% of time
- Twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, grasping, stooping, bending and repetitive movements – Up to 30% of time
- Current TB test or x-ray
- Prefer at least 1 year of Post Anesthesia (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) experience
- Must pass all Maxim screening exams with 80% or greater
- ACLS and PALS certification per Post Anesthesia (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) contract requirements
- Physical exam per state or Post Anesthesia (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) contract requirements
