- Sets up and maintains mechanical ventilators and various types of oxygen and respiratory care equipment to administer medically approved gases, drugs, and therapeutic treatments for the improvement of cardio-respiratory functions
- The Respiratory Care Education Coordinator coordinates all Respiratory care education activities for students and employees, to include student clinical education, employee orientation, continuing education and competency assessment, Respiratory-related education and training for non-Respiratory care personnel
- Works closely with Manager/Director to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate the educational needs of staff providing care within the units and specialty areas to enable staff to provide quality care for each unique patient population or specialty area
- Understanding of Cardiopulmonary principles, theories, and processes consistent with that required for state licensing and national registry
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and visitors is required
- Pharmacological understanding of respiratory medicine dosages for all age groups
- Understanding of various respiratory therapy treatment modalities for all age groups
- Understanding of anatomical and physiological differences in neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations from a cardiopulmonary perspective
- Ability to utilize computers for basic work processing
